HYAA News & Announcements

September 26, 2024

Did you know?  HYAA had over 700 youth play in over 1,000 total games this past summer in our program!!

Did you also know?  HYAA has partnered with the Hastings School District, the City of Hastings, and the Hastings Hawks baseball team each year to schedule over 600 home games and practices on various fields and parks across the City of Hastings!

Growing our community of softball and baseball players, and offering these sports to our Hastings Community, is critical to our mission.

Just as critical to our mission - Providing maintained and updated fields to play on. While we are stating the obvious, it may not be obvious how we have been working toward this aspect of our mission.

Specifically, over the past three years, HYAA has partnered and collaborated with our City, School District, and the Hastings Hawks to identify and make numerous improvements to our local fields, which in turn benefit our association’s softball and baseball teams.

With that in mind, we want to highlight for our Members and HYAA Community, the various contributions and investments, totaling over $40,000, that HYAA has made over the past three years.

2022 Projects

  • $7,000 to Hastings School District for windscreens on the Varsity Baseball and Softball Fields

  • $5,600 to the City of Hastings, jointly with the Hastings Hawks, for the scoreboard at Vets Baseball Field

2023 Projects

  • $4,200 to the City of Hastings, jointly with the Hastings Hawks, for the batting cages near the baseball field at Vets Park.

  • $2,025 to the Hastings Hawks for the turf in the batting cages.

2024 Projects

  • $15,000 to the City of Hastings, and in conjunction with them, toward the completion of covered dugouts and cement benches at several city park fields.

  • $10,000 to the City of Hastings for scoreboards on the Vets Park softball fields number 1 and 2.

Our sincerest gratitude to all the coaches, managers, and member volunteers who helped implement these improvements over the past three years, AND (because we cannot say it enough) THANK YOU for making our association thrive and grow year after year!

As a Board, we are proud of the investments we have made towards our HYAA program and community, and we hope you are too!  These investments enhance the playing experience for our youth players, and solidifies our partnerships with our city, school, and overall softball and baseball community, which in turn, works to strengthen our Hastings Community!

Our goal with this message is to better communicate to YOU, our members, some of the important work done to help enhance our fantastic program!  But, as with anything in life, there is always room for growth and improvement.  As a Board, we recognize that communication of our vision, mission and actions is key, while also being open to innovative ideas and suggestions is important and useful as well!

With that said, we encourage those wanting to become more involved, to consider becoming a part of the HYAA Board.  We have five positions up for election this October, with 2 current board members vacating their positions.

For more information, please visit the ELECTIONS page on our website for details relating to the election, email elections@hyaa.info, or feel free to reach out directly to any current Board Member.

Please consider helping us continue to improve our association and make a difference in our youth players by joining our Board!!!

Thank you!
